Reiki with Rebecca

Modern life has many advantages but can also impose high stress levels that can sometimes go beyond what is reasonable. Life can be fast paced with long working hours, juggling family and home demands. We have somehow developed an unhealthy belief that relaxation is not an effective use of time.
What stress does to the body
Stress triggers the adrenals to secrete adrenaline and cortisol which put the body into flight or fight mode. If you find that you are not achieving a restful sleep, find it difficult to concentrate, have low energy, breathe rapidly or you experience tense muscles, this can signify adrenaline drive, where the body does not switch off the adrenaline. Over time this depletes the immune system and can cause problems for the digestion system.
Reiki is very relaxing and is a gentle therapy that works with the energy system of the body. Our bodies have an inbuilt intelligence that repairs and renews cells and Reiki boosts this process.
Reiki (ray-key) is an ancient Japanese therapy that is known for deep relaxation, stress reduction, anxiety relief, pain management & natural healing as well as many other benefits. Most feel great peace and experience deep inner calm.
Reiki works on the energy system like acupuncture. Although Reiki provides the body with energy as well as clearing the meridian pathways.
Life force energy (Ki) flows through the body and causes us to be alive. If one's life force energy is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
Reiki activates the body’s healing ability and works on a physical, mental, spiritual and emotional level. This therapy is safe and gentle. It can be used on children and animals.
The treatment is the equivalent of around 4 hrs sleep and the benefits can continue some time after the treatment. All clients feel the relaxation straight away and additional benefits can be felt weeks later.
You can sit or lay down (most popular choice) and you will be fully clothed.
I can talk you through a relaxation exercise/meditation (optional) at the beginning to help you relax further.
Hands will be placed (on or off the body) over the body’s meridian & chakra points.
There will be relaxing music and a blend of pure essential oils vaporising in the room (optional) to help you relax and stimulate the healing further.
Most people close their eyes to gain optimum benefit but you can keep them open if you prefer.
What do Reiki treatments feel like?
Each person experiences Reiki differently depending on their individual needs at the time.
Clients may or may not feel sensations during a Reiki treatment. Benefits reported by recipients include:
deep relaxation promoting a calm and peaceful sense of well being on all levels.
some people feel sensations of heat, tingling, or experience seeing colours.
whilst others can have an emotional response, indicating that shifts are taking place, allowing harmony to be restored.
some people may fall asleep.
There is no right or wrong way.
It does not clash with other healing systems and can be used on its own or with other therapies.
When used in a hospital setting, clinical staff have reported that Reiki reduces stress, decreases the amount of pain medication required, improves sleep and appetite and accelerates the healing process. It has been reported to reduce many of the unwanted side effects of radiation and drugs including chemotherapy. - Centre for Reiki Research
There are no known contra-indications for Reiki. It is a non-intrusive treatment that can be delivered in a variety of settings and requires no special equipment. Although, please let Rebecca know if you have any mental health illnesses apart from depression and anxiety, before the treatment as you will need to gain consent from your GP.
There have been various research studies that have shown very positive results.
It has been clinically demonstrated to be one of the most advanced natural stress relief and health improvement therapies.
It is widely accepted by many people in the medical sciences & health services as a valuable addition to all other therapies.
Reiki is being used in various settings including private practice, complementary therapy centres, GP surgeries, hospitals, hospices, cancer support groups, post operative recovery, drug rehabilitation, prisons, HIV/aid centres and in the care of the elderly.
Reiki is a tradition that is open to any belief system.
I have given Reiki treatments to animals with them reacting very positively and owners reporting significant improvements after the treatment has taken place. This just proves how effective Reiki can be as animals are not effected by placebo.

On the 24th of December 2017 I lost my dad which was totally unexpected. Understandably I was in shock and deeply hurt. Grief is different for everyone and people react differently. I felt like I had to carry on and be strong for those that weren’t coping so well, even though I felt that I could crumble at any time. One of the first things that I could do to help myself was go for a Reiki session. I know many effective therapies but this is the one I turned to.
I knew it would provide me with the nurturing, supporting and comforting energy that I needed. I didn’t have to talk a great deal which is what I wanted at the time. I just wanted to feel better. After the first session I felt stronger and after a few I could cope again. I am not saying that I have completed the whole process completely but when/if the next stage comes I have the assurance that I will get through it with Reiki or perhaps another therapy such as hypnotherapy.
Reiki can be very relaxing and it aims to relieve stress. There can be many things to sort out at the time of a loved one’s death including funeral arrangements and possible house clearing. Reiki can calm the nervous system during the session and for long afterwards, allowing decision making to become easier.
Reiki works on releasing the emotions that the body and the energy system may be holding onto. We now know that holding onto negative emotions long term can result in physical illness.
Reiki works to raise the vibration of the energy system encouraging the body and mind to heal and to feel stronger.
Reiki promotes sleep. Clients report that regular reiki sessions improve their sleeping hours which decreases stress and improves the overall productivity of the body and mind.
Why have a Reiki session with me?
I did Reiki training in 2007 and have taken further Energy Healing training with the Healing Trust over a 3 year period. I am a gentle and warm practitioner but the Reiki/Energy is now powerful after years of dedication and development.
Due to practicing hypnotherapy I incorporate some of these skills into sessions as I can offer meditations on letting go of what the body is holding onto, balancing the chakras and more.
If you would like to book a session please get in touch. You can call, text or email be on 07737769548 email@example.com.
